Can officers of a C corp be board members of a non profit organization?

If a C corp is going to set up a non profit organization, can the officers of the corporation be board members of the non profit?

I intern at a small c corp that has 3 employees, including the ceo/founder. Can the CEO be on the board of directors of the non profit organization without having a conflict of interest etc.?
