Our local legal nurse consulting chapter is in communication with the National Board regarding the use of slate versus ballot elections. National reports that there is a recognized trend of non-profit organizations moving to slate ballots, where the nominating committee presents their choice of candidates rather than a more expansive listing of individual candidates. We contend that this process fails to provide membership with a choice when the number of candidates is equal to the number of open positions.

Is the issue of non-profit organizations offering of a slate limited to the number of open board positions addressed anywhere in federal or state statutes?

Thank you for your assistance.
