Can I sue him for abandoning my belongings?

I had to move out of my apartment and had my boyfriend at the time helping me pack and move all of my belongings into a storage unit which I stupidly let him put in his name without thinking about it. We had talked about and agreed to him changing it into my name and he said that's exactly what he did and come to find out when I called the owner of the storage units to pay my balance, he had written a letter to them, which I have a copy of saying that he was abandoning the unit, that he informed me that its being abandoned which is not the case and that he gives the owners permission to break the lock to enter, and for the storage owners to receive proceed from sale. Can I sue him?

Have the owners sold anything yet? If not, will they let you pay what is owed on the unit & you obtain your things? If you can't get your things from the unit or they were sold, you can "try" suing. It's too bad you allowed his name only to be on the storage unit.
