I recently decided to move out of my current residence due to one of my roommates was allegedly attempting to take pictures of me from under my bathroom door. There are a total of 3 people on the lease, myself, my friend, and her fiance. All of us have spoken with the landlord and everyone has agreed that I should be able to move out without any additional costs. The landlord is drawing up a new lease for my friend and her fiance therefore letting me out of the lease. My roommates have mentioned to me they are trying to get a lawsuit against me for breaking the lease. Can they do that even though a new lease is being signed and the landlord has agreed to let me out of the lease?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, if you have the filing fees and half a brain, you can sue Santa Claus, The Tooth Fairy, Barack Obama, and The Easter Bunny, too.

Heck, if you're broke enough, you just need half a brain.
The court will allow you to file as a pauper.

That said, yes, they can sue you.

You then can defend and prove to the court why they shouldn't prevail.

This is why you should never have roommates.

If a husband and a wife fall out, stands to reason so called friends would, too!
