Can Colorado CPS Open a case on me when my children were not in my care And in a diff

I went to the hospital last week Because I was very sick. When I left the hospital called Colorado CPS. When I spoke with the social worker I am formed her that my children were not in my care and in a different state. She told me they were not opening the case. However she has contacted my sister in law Who has my children Twice in the last week. She told my sister in law that she is to call social services and inform them when my children are coming back to Colorado to be with me. Can you please tell me what you expect and what is going to happen and what the laws and my rights are. Thank you so much for your help

You haven't given enough information. Are you being accused of abandonment? Why is CPS involved to begin with?

If I had to guess (its only a guess) the issue is not you but your sister in-law. There may be abuse/neglect concerns with her and CPS wants children with you for this reason. However like the above post you have not gave us enough to form a real opinion
