H Visa Calculation of H1B period

I came in L1A for company A. Now I want to join company B in H1-B. Will the time spent in L1A count towards the 6 year cap for H1-B?

My understanding is that the total time spent in the US is what matters, L1A + H1B. There may be a possibility of extension. My thoughts are without more, speak to an experienced immigration attorney since these issues may be fact specific.
