buying new home...finance through builder or bank?

I am getting ready to purchase a new home and I am not sure who I should try to get preapproved through. Is it better/easier to go through the builders financing group or through a financial institution like Bank of America? Or does it matter?

The builders rates are not likely to be the most competitive. You might be given an incentive to use them by taking freebies the builder night be giving away but you need to find out what rates are, closing cost, points. If you go to a broker, they have access to many lenders. Or even a credit union is likely to be better than B of A. B of A might be ok if you have GREAT credit but find out what all the fees are.
