2 weeks ago my husband and I signed a contract for a new roof with a verbal agreement for a price per month pending financing. 2 days after signing they called and said there was a problem and a new contract would need signed. The next day we were told that they fixed the problem and the original contract was still in affect. The next day there was a problem with financing that we said we could not do, so they worked it out for the same price the following day. There was again a problem with financing but again it was fixed within 2 days.
For the 2 weeks no one could tell us anything about the status of the contract or the financing. It took them 5 days to return my husbands last call. Today we were FINALLY told the final price per month and it is more than we agreed to verbally. We cannot afford this price, but they are saying the price we agreed to was not the price we are saying and that if we cancel now there will be a 25% fee.
They gave us the run around without telling us anything for 2 weeks so we had no chance to cancel because they couldn't tell us anything and we assumed everything was still the same. Can we legally break this contract without paying the fee?

Without actually looking at the contract, there is no way to know. Never sign something like this without having it reviewed by an attorney and checking out the company.
