My boyfriend and I broke up and he has moved out of state. He has left the majority of his belongings in my residence. After repeated attempts asking him to remove the items, they are still here. It has been over 2 months now.
How long is it before the items are considered abandon property? And what are my legal responsibilities towards his belongings?

if you have tried for at least 60 days to give him a chance to get his stuff or set times up for him to come get it and he still has not then the property is yours now/abandoned property and you can do with it as you wish. I would also suggest so you C.Y.A. once a week for the next month send an email or such keeping copies stating you are going to get rid of the items on said date and that if he wishes to arrage for their removal he needs to respond and do so.

I would send him a certified letter, stating if he does not get the items within 30 days, you are going to get rid of them.

I agree with Duraine. Certified return receipt. Also, what state are you in?
