I am in the military and have a 20 year old daughter who lives with me. She recently bought a PS3 from her boyfriends parents for $100 and the other $50was to be paid on her next payday. The mother had borrowed $50 from her and her boyfriend and she was never paid back. (Since the boyfriend does not work my daughter is the one who had the money).

Since the $50 was still owed, my daughter told them to keep it and she would not worry about the other $50 to them.

Now she is getting harassing text messages telling her that if it is not paid by Monday they are going to sue her and contact my chain of command. She tried to ask them how I fit in but they will not answer her.

They are threatening the police and all kinds of things. Do I need to worry?

About the police? No. About contacting your chain of command? No. It's got nothing to do with you. About other threats? Maybe - depends how crazy the boyfriend's parents are.

About being sued? Maybe. Whether they'll win is anybody's guess.
