I was banned from and internet deer hunting forum.

Alabama has a two deer a day bag limit on whitetail deer during the entire gun season on the Talledaga National Forest. The deer herd has been almost decimated on the Talladega National Forest. This is public land, I placed the following topic on the forum:

Oak Mountain State Forest versus the Talladega National Forest.

Oak Mountain State Park consists of 9940 acres of pine studded ridges and lush greeh hardwood bottoms. It is considered marginal habitat for the whitetail deer. It is overpopulated.

The Talladega National Forest consists of a 228,600 acre northern division and a 156,000 acre southern division. The northern division is hardwoods and small pine cuttings. The southern division is located in some of the best deer habitat in Alabama. The forest deer population is way below the carrying capacity of the habitat. Some of it is located in the black belt.
In my opionion the reason Oak Mountain is extremely overpopulated and the Talladega National Forest is almost void of deer, is the level of protection afforded the herd. What say you?
