Bail Bond Agreements

I was arrested in 04/07. My roommate signed the bond agreement to get me out and I paid part of the $7500 bail. I made another payment on the bond. And then eventually had to include it in my bankruptcy.

I did appear in court for the charges I was arrested for and all charges were dropped.

Now the bail bonds company is trying to sue my roommate for the balance of the bond.

Can they do that? I thought that he was just signing the bond agreement to guarantee that I would be at all court procedings.

Let me know thanks.

jseat,

If you have already gone to court and all the charges have been dropped then the bail bonds company can not go after you or your roommate. The judge should have given you a certificate or form so that you can present to the bail bonds company. That way the bail bonds company knows that the case is close and that you are no longer going to trail for that offense.
