Almost one year ago, a friend of mine borrowed $8000.00 from me. He later signed a promisory note to acknowledge the loan and made a few payment for a total of $2000. His last two checks have bounced. He is currently working but does not have any assets that I can attach. Does anyone know if I have any remedies available with the District Attorney's office.

You have no remedies through the District Attorney's office. They will only prosecute the debtor for writing bad checks if applicable. Your remedies are in civil court.
