I am trying to help a seriously ill person that is being sued for a large credit card debt, and is receiving letters about a second debt. He claims that he stopped paying these cards about three years ago because there were incorrect charges and he was unsuccessful in having them removed. I think he just gave up because he is sick, but now he seems confused and incompetent. I don't believe he is capable of defending himself in a lawsuit. His only assets are a car and house with substantial equity. Is it likely that a bankruptcy would make him lose the home? What help is available for a very disabled person in this situation?
