Sorry to bother you and leave a message here but I am new and have no idea how to contact you. I was reading your replies to other posters and thought you might be able to help me.

My fiance is British and I am American. We are waiting for his police report to complete the list of papers we need before we can request an interview with immigration. These are my questions:

Might he be denied entry into the US under a fiance visa because of his recent trouble with the law and if so can we appeal? Should we try to fine an immigration attorney just in case? Are there pro bono ones? Do we need to get the attorney in the UK or the US? I am so confused.

He was arrested at the end of May [recent, I know, which probably doesn't look good] for a big mess at work which he took the entire blame for and seems misrepresented by what is written in the court report which is "stole money and goods valued at £1600". He has to do 100 hours of community service before he is allowed to leave the country [if approved] but there was no fine, financial restitution, or jail time. He even resigned before they could fire him.

Thank you for reading and again I am sorry for posting here.

that does not sound good. He definitely can get into trouble because of this, meaning, a visa and entry to the US could be denied. But it depends on the circumstances and details, so yes, I advise you to consult an immigration lawyer. Usually you would look for an attorney in the US, but sometimes you find US immigration law attorneys abroad, too.

If you need a referral, here is a website: http://www.aila.org/content/default.aspx?bc=12621|10180

If his British case is not yet completed, it might be a very good idea to get the American immigration law attorney to work with the British criminal defense attorney.
