apply for ocupational license

My license is suspended because of an accident and I want to apply for an occupational license and when I called the County Clerk office they said I may need a lawyer to file for a hearing. What do I need to do, I am a single mom and cannot afford a lawyer and need my license.

DPS should be able to give you all the information you need about the process.
An attorney isn't necessary but would be helpful.
Make sure you clarify you are seeking a license for work only and not full reinstatement of your license.

If you're required to pay compensation because if the accident, you can forget about getting any license until the beast has been fed.

If you're required to file and carry an SR22, nothing will happen until you've satisfied that requirement.

If you must sit in the penalty box for a specific perid of time, nothing will happen until the penalty period has elapsed.

Forget anything else, no one will care.
