Hi, if you are moving to a different city to take a new job are you allowed to break your lease without having to pay the remainder of the lease?

You need to read your lease.

Some leases have that clause, others don't mention it.

If its NOT in your lease, breaking your lease will cost dearly.

Whatever you do, don't sublet, as you'll probably get screwed.

That presumes you're permitted to sublet.

You'll have to read your lease to see if there is a "transfer clause" in it allowing you to break it if you are transferring out of town for new employment.

If it has no such clause, you will be/can be required to honor your lease & if you move it can cost you.
