My fiance is from Germany and overstayed his visa by a few years. We just had a daughter together and I'm trying to find out where to start on making him legal. I know he has to renew his passport cause its expired. But what else

If he's here on an expired German passport, he should visit the nearest German consulate or embassy to get his passport renewed.

As far as your BF overstaying his visa, that could be a bigger problem.

Unless you were married, there's being engaged won't be all that useful to a foreign national, aka, ILLEGAL ALIEN.

Sometime next year, there's going to be a big push to start a very aggressive deportation effort, regardless of who becomes president.
