Credit Cards, Rating, Repair an unknow judgement

Just got paper work says: a judgment has been entered against you in August 2010. What do I do now?

Okay, you can use the state court website to search for the judgment.
You need to verify that the judgment is legitimate, so look for it here:

https://www.judiciary.state.nj.us/pressrel/2012/pr120411a.htm

Or, here:

https://njcourts.judiciary.state.nj.us/web15/JudgmentWeb/jsp/judgmentCaptcha.faces

The searches are FREE.

Once you locate the judgment, assuming you do, read it.
Its best if you can print it out, and read it leisurely.

If the judgment was filed in 2010, and you verify the authenticity of the judgment, it is well within the 20 year statutory period to execute (or collect upon) the judgment against the debtor. (That would be you.)

After you've verified the document to your satisfaction, you should contact the party(ies) named on the judgment to arrange a payoff.
It might be the original noteholder, or it could be someone that has bought the paper.
