I'm an interior decorator. I had a client sign an agreement which outlined my terms. The client happens to be an attorney. She decided to back out of the agreement despite the terms state she owed me the balance of the design fee regardless if she cancels. She refuses to pay. I did nothing wrong, as a matter of fact, I hadn't really started working for her. The agreement states that any dispute over $1,000 needs to be resolved through arbitration. She isn't even bothering with that, but I want my money. Can I just go directly to a collection agency? We're talking about $1,100.00

Your help would be greatly appreciated! I'm here in California.
