I left this note on my downstair neighbor's door. I was quite angry when I wrote it. This was my first interaction of any kind with them. I don't even know what they look like.

Hello. Did you have a T.V. on late last night? (3, 4 am and later.) If
you did, please don't do it again. The sound really carries at night.
Thank you for understanding.
====

The next day, I found this note on my door:

====
I have come up here twice to discuss the issue you have regarding my
television being too loud. Let me start off by saying you don't run my
apartment. Until you pay my monthly rent you can only run your
household. Your loud alot of times but I don't complain because living
in apartments "there is noise" Make this your first and
last
time you put a letter on my door. I work just like
you and I stay right next door to this exit door that slams all night.
Find someone else to bother!! As I stated earlier, I came up to talk
with you, but you wouldn't answer your door. Please don't pull this
cowardly act of placing a letter on my door.
====

Needless to say, "wouldn't answer your door" is silly. I was out all day.

Note the underline under "first and last". Should I talk to the manager or let it go? I have no intention of engaging verbally with this cretin. My inclination is to let it go, but the next time I have trouble with this character I will wish the manager knew about this time.

Thanks.

Self help remedies always end poorly.

If this person raises a ruckus in the future, I'd just call "911".

This is what the police are paid to do, keep the peace.

I'd forget about the door tagging in the future.

I'd also keep my distance.

And, the other guy is right, you have to put up with NOISE in apartments.

So, unless you want to start a "tattle tale war", I'd mind my own business.

I'd also begin looking for new "digs".
