I was driving my usual route on the way to work today. It is a two lane road that is 45mph. Buses will pick up people off to the right.
So the bus picking up merges back into the right lane of traffic which I am traveling in. I put on my blinker to go over and get boxed out by a vehicle....no biggie. I get over behind the vehicle who has no one in front of him. For a 1/4 mile the vehicle keeps slowing down and speeding up, constantly on the brakes. I get back over to the right and stop at the traffic light. I look over at the driver of the other vehicle who is in the left lane and pull up. He then pulls up and puts down his window and yells "got a problem?"
I then jokingly say "you might want to lay off your brakes and do the speed limit." The guy freaked out. He says that he couldn't see the "f*****" traffic light around the bend and F this and F that. And F me and so on. I figure he must have woke up in a bad mood. I was caught off guard but said "well just get out of the fast lane then if you can't see." He then tells me it is "f*****" 45 mph and that he is a police officer. He then says that maybe he should call in a marked car and we can discuss it with them. At that point I said "I don't know what you want from me, go ahead if you feel that you should" and he responds with "oh F*** you" and proceeds to pick up his phone and call someone. Light turns green and I go.
The light turns green and I continue through to the next light where I am making a right. At this point he is in the right lane completely on my back following me and on the phone, but then proceeds to go straight. I figure he must have taken my license plate.
Now whether this guy was an officer or not, I don't know. He was fairly irate and didnt show a badge and I was not sticking around with the way he was talking and acting.
Now my question is, that in the event he was an officer, is there anything I need to worry about? I get the feeling the guy took my statement personally and by the way he was acting, I didn't want to deal with him. If he was indeed an off duty officer, would he mail a ticket over this, and what could it be for?
thanks
