I just found out that an active warrant has been issued for my arrest in Arkansas (in connection with a bad check). Is there a statute of limitations on this - I know an active warrant will never expire - BUT is there a statute of limitations on the "act" behind the warrant i.e. the hot check. In addition, if I send the money (by certified funds) to the person to whom the check was written what happens? It's been almost 3 years since the check was written.

The statute of limitations is rendered moot by the issuance of the warrant. The SOL is essentially the time frame in which the state has to take action. The state has taken action - they have filed a criminal case against you. This will not go away and will haunt you for years to come. Jobs, public assistance (SSI, welfare, aid, etc.), loans, and freedom are all in jeopardy until the matter is resolved.

Life as a fugitive kinda bites.

Your call.
