Accidentally Broke Sunroof: Advice?

I was playing ball the other day in my apartment's parking lot and accidentally broke my friend's sunroof on this car. I immediately called him and left him a message that it was me and I would pay to replace the sunroof. The next day, without me knowing, he called the police and had a report filled out but told them he didn't know who did it. Although he is a friend of mine, word has it, his girlfriend has been telling him to have the repair shop fix other things that was there BEFORE my accident and that I wasn't responsible for. This has caused me to worry. I told him a couple times that when he gets the receipt that I want an original copy. If it turns out that he had other little problems fixed other than the sunroof and wants me to pay for it. What should I do?
