Hello,

A little help please.

First a little history. I live in South Carolina. My credit stinks due to a divorce and some bad luck (bad car loan and credit cards). I am looking at a civil court case with a major company. I have tried to talk to them about a settlement, but they are unwilling to meet in the middle moneywise.
1) I own a car that is worth about what I owe on it.
2) I own a house with approx. 15,000 dollars equity
That is it. Not much money in bank or anything else.

If they get a judgement. What can they do? If I, in the future, try to sell the house can they get any of that money?

Thanks inadvane for any help.

If they actually go through witht he court case all they will obtain is a judgement which they will then ahve to try and collect. This will mean that they can attach any real or personal property but they cannot garnish wages in South Carolina.

You may want to consider bankruptcy.
