A mother died in CA and her only asset, a home, is in a trust. The house has been left to 5 beneficiaries. When the mother was living, one of the beneficiaries, the daughter (and her husband), paid rent to live with their mom and to help take care of her. To help their mother financially, they paid off her reverse mortgage and they have a 1st Trust Deed to the home. The estate does not have any liquid assets to pay for the house expenses (property taxes, etc.). Who is responsible for the home expenses before the home is sold? Also, the daughter and her husband, would like to buy the house from the estate. What would need to be done to do this? (besides getting the house appraised for a current market value).
