5th Degree Theft in Iowa

I am a 19 year old female from Iowa with a clean record. I made a bad decision to steal a 50$ purse and i have a court date in about a week for 5th degree theft. I dont know what to do next or what i should expect as a punishment. Help me please!!

I am a retail theft consultant and answer questions like yours daily. Its not what you can expect but what you can arrange. Talk to your Attorney see what your defense and plea options are. Ask about ACD or diversion as plea options to protect your record

Agree that you need to talk to a lawyer. If you cannot afford one, ask the court if they will appoint you a public defender. The lawyer/PD will go over your options with you.
