Some of my neighbors house got severely damaged in a storm and they moved out. They had two mortgages. Mortgage company A sued for foreclosure, including Mortgage company B, insurance co, and homeowners as defendants in suit.
Mortgage company B didn't show up for court. Judge's opinion says defendants "default" so Mortgage company A entitled to 80k for suit.
Does this mean my neighbors won't have to pay Mortgage B, of 20k, because Mortgage company B didn't show up?
Or is that considered a separate issue? they don't have internet access right now so I hope I got the facts straight.
Any help, anyone? Is this cut and dried or should they enlist the help of an attorney also?
