This morning i stopped at a coffee shop located in a small, privately owned office building which has a small parking lot attached for its customers. There were no marked spaces available, so I parked next to a curb in the lot where I was not obstructing any traffic or impeding anyone from accessing parking spaces. I have done this many, many times in the past without incident. When i came out of the store no more than 5 minutes later, my vehicle was hooked up to a tow truck. (A couple of tow trucks were across the street waiting to tow anybody who parked illegally. A second truck was towing someone from a handicapped spot at the same time.) The tow truck driver said that I had to pay him $150 for him to not take the vehicle to the pound. I did so because I had to get to work.

Although the spot was not marked as a parking stall, there were no signs stating that it was a fire lane or an illegal spot, nor was I blocking any traffic flow. Do I have any chance of recouping the $150?

Thank you for your time.
