My husbands mother passed away on 07/09/2006 without a will. There are 3 children .Then there is the EX- stepfather who is the father to the sister. Their Mother divorced him in 2000 because of his acoholism. The property was assigned to the mother in the divorce. The problem is she allowed him to live in the house while she lived at her sisters.(long story). The brothers have allowed him to stay in the home until the siblings could reach a decision about the estate.Well in the mean time the stepfather is selling their Mothers belongings. As you can see we need some legal advise as to exactly what we need to do to stop him. And once they finally do appoint a executor how would they recover any of their mothers belongings that he has sold? I know :cussing: I know Ive told them over & over to hurry up! But sometimes people need time to grief, to which time is not on their side.

You need to hire a lawyer to probate grandma's estate as an intestate succession (without a will).
