Make absolutely sure the official records are updated and correct. Request a cop of you driving record a few months from now. I think you can do this on-line and the NCDOT Web site. Otherwise this can pop up again at any time (20 yrs from now).

An attorney has a good chance of getting this reduced to 9 over which is no insurance points with your record. A couple of people have reported being able to do this on their own as Lwpat suggested.

In most states a conviction for reckless can have very serious concequences. You need to speak with an attorney.

Fix both issues before you appear in court and you'll probably be OK. Ignore them, bring your toothbrush to court.

The reason I ask is only one PJC is allowed eery three years per household incase there is a chance the address on your licence was not up to date.

It has much more to do with the attitude and respect you show the court. Do you both live in the same household?

Call the DMV and make sure they are real tickets and not someone playing games with you.

You pay fines and court costs for a PJC. (Probably in the $130 range) Ask if they will drop the speed to 9 over so you won't need the PJC since a first offense for less tha 9 over does not hit your insurance. Save the PJC in case you need it later.

Huge difference between 54 in a 45 vs 54 in a 35 in NC -- 40% insurance increase for 3 years to be exact. There is no difference in the DMV points so you still pay the fine.

A guilty plea or conviction could result in suspension of you licence and a huge increase in your insurance. See if the DA will drop it down to a 9 over. This will avoid insurance points if you have no previous convictions. If they won't reduce the charge, plead not guilty and get a lawyer...
