Why didn't you get the CD key from off the internet? I don't use it that way, but i KNOW it isn't hard to get a cd key off the internet. . . Maybe you could argue for "destruction of property" at $50, hopefully they'll let you off with a civil infraction.

I disagree with CDw on this one. NEVER speak to the police without an attorney present. Getting arrested might be traumatic, but it probably won't happen in this case with what you said. Anything you say to a cop at this point will only help build the case against you, even if it seems flimsy...

A civil infraction ticket isn't like the bill at a restaurant. I'm pretty sure the person to whom the infraction is written to will pay the entire thing, otherwise, you'll get something in the mail.

That's happened to me, too.

Fight the charge! If you get a good defense attorney, hopefully you can reduce things to a civil infraction.

You don't really file a perjury charge. You contact the prosecutor for that area and tell them what happened. Then they decide.
