I reiterate. This site deals exclusively with U.S. Law.

    Dismissal - British Columbia

I still say that somebody has taken over ArmyJudge's brain. :-)

    Dismissal - British Columbia

This site deals primarily with U.S. Law. I don't think we have any responders here who know Canadian law.

    I am a Temporary Worker...Or am I??

Nothing. They had no legal obligation to ever hire you as a direct employee. Thank your lucky stars you have work for this long.

fired for sexual harassment that was not intended

OK, what evil being has taken over ArmyJudge's brain? :nuts

    Wrongfully terminated

OP, stop making multiple posts for every new piece of information. Combine your answers to a response into one single post, please.

    Hired then told to wait

"Salaried" is merely a pay method. Even if you were salaried exempt (which is based on your job duties), the employer would have to pay your full salary only for your first day worked through the end of the scheduled workweek. For example, if the workweek starts on Sunday, you started on...

    Hired then told to wait

And if they do, file for unemployment. You may or may not get it, but it never hurts to file.

fired for sexual harassment that was not intended

Please note ArmyJudge's last response was 100% sarcasm. At least I hope it was. ;)

    unfair treatment at work//possible discrimination

This is nowhere near wrongful termination and no, they don't need a "real reason" to terminate him; they could terminate him legally for wearing green socks. He should definitely file for unemployment, however. Based on the details in your post, he's likely to get benefits if he otherwise...

Why do I owe the state $19000 in unemployment?

Contact Legal Aid in your county or the nearest law school (if there is one) which often offers students for preparation (although they can't represent you).

Why do I owe the state $19000 in unemployment?

You need an attorney NOW. Quitting a job because you are "dissatified" with it is almost always a disqualifying reason for UI benefits, at least from that period forward.

    Teaching Contract Changed

Of course, assuming that this post is nearly three months old, I'm sure the situation has been resolved by now. Thressa, you have been told several times to stop posting to dead threads.

    Voluntary Quit

I have been a Payroll Manager and Wage and Hour Compliance specialist for decades. I have also represented my employer at unemployment hearings.

    Dungeon Hiring Practices

Do. Not. Comment. On. Job. I have to admit I couldn't stomach reading that whole post. If you were applying as an independent contractor, wage and hour and other fair hiring practices do not apply to you.

let go due to boss having to fill out child support papers to garnish my wages..

See an employment attorney. It is illegal for an employer to terminate or otherwise discipline an employee for a single garnishment (if, in fact, this was the only order/request). http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/garnishment-law.html#2

    Voluntary Quit

You quit; bad move. If you HAD received another warning and you were fired because of it, you MIGHT have received benefits. By quitting at this point, you virtually assured yourself of not receiving benefits. I would not even mention the Medical Assistance requirement; they don't need to...

    Pay after surgery

    1. Worker's Comp does not apply unless the injury was job-related. Was it? And if so, did she file a claim? 2. Unemployment benefits are only available if the individual is ready, willing and able to work. 3. Food stamps or other assistance, maybe. She can contact the county public...
