    Unintended consequences shouldn't be overlooked

You got me. I neglected to move my decimal two spaces. 0.35% infected, of which 5.85% have died. Still not numbers I'm prepared to worry about. Consider that if the numbers reported are inaccurate due to testing then it is reasonable to expect that the number of infected is higher with more...

    Unintended consequences shouldn't be overlooked

0.0035% of the US population has been infected according to CDC numbers. Of those, 0.0585% have died. Sure, anyone coud get sick, but those are not numbers to fear. People can decide for themselves if they want to wear PPE and venture outside and away from home.

    Stay At Home Orders

It is a valid defense if the law, or executive order, is unlawful. Yes, people have to suck up the consequences in the mean time, and be prepared a decision may go against them, but they are certainly free to act as they choose despite the fears of others.

    Stay At Home Orders

Forget about the word "riot" and look at the obvious intent of the law. The reason there is a 3 day limit is because it has nothing to do with a public health issue and everything to do with controlling civil unrest. It is clearly not the type of emergency the Act is intended to address. In...

    Stay At Home Orders

So when the relevant statutes don't reach far enough it is acceptable to find a catch all clause of an unrelated authority that happens to have similar wording with obvious alternate intent. 3 days... Under these circumstances what would be the point? People still won't be rioting but they will...

    Stay At Home Orders

They are invoking authority under the Riot Control Act, but are people actually rioting? This seems yet another overreach and abuse of power. Governor closes all roads into a New Mexico city

    Certified Mail Signature

Your letter is not important. It is not a document that requires proof of service. If you are in court later you can use what you have to show you attempted to resolve the matter outside of court. Who signed for the letter and whether or not it was ever even read by the recipient is insignificant.

Conflict of Michigan Acts regarding State of Emergency Duration & Extension

I have not read the two acts you mention, but I wonder if they specify different types of emergencies. Some types limited, others not. Also, one might specifically have repealed or modified the other. The emergency declaration almost certainly cited which authority it is invoking. The court...

Michigan legislators say no the governor's "power grab".

I think so far organized protesters have done well. However what I was alluding to was not the protesters but the broad civil unrest that is developing around the country. Attempts to continue to enforce these very questionable orders are at some point going to result in an unfortunate outcome...

Michigan legislators say no the governor's "power grab".

Kudos to Michiganders (is that what they are called?) for letting their voice be heard. The legislature likely sensed the pending civil disobedience if they dared proceed any other way. This same scenario is about to play out across multiple states, but not all will have this peaceful result.

Sex Crimes, Sex Offenders Accidental underage chat

What you describe is not a crime. Nobody will care. Don't worry about it. Had you continued contact, then having reason to believe he was under age, then there could have been an issue. As you've described it, this is a big nothing burger.

    missing airplane

You might check with airports with ATC and try to find any record of the plane. Locating it could be difficult. Perhaps your insurer can be of assistance too. Having notified the FAA of potential fraud was likely your best move. If the buyer can't compete the transfer they may be contacting you...
