Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft What's the difference???

It is the same. Essentially, you were charged with petty theft of items less than $200. If would be grand larceny if it was over $200. Conceal/price alter 1st - is 1st offense of petty theft, and if you get caught shoplifting items 3 times (less than $200) it automatically becomes a felony...

Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft Plea bargain on arraignment day?? (VA)

Ask around for the private attorney's in your area that have a VERY good relationship with the Commonwealth Attorney. Those that do, can start the bargaining process earlier and help mitigate your exposure to this. I know some good attorney's in the area (I have no relationship or gain anything...

Which part of VA are you in? VA has some tough laws and you should not go to court without a lawyer. The amount you stole is close the felony amount and they might take that into consideration. Get a lawyer before you arraignment and have them speak to the court on your behalf.

Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft Theft through discounts

It all depends on whether or not you were authorized to do so. From the looks of it, they were out to make a case. At anytime did any member of management tell you, go ahead and make a decision to keep the customer happy by offering these discounts? If so, you could be in the clear.

More than likely you will not have to appear in court. Usually the police are called at the time of incident to run you for warrants and write a police report. The LP then go to the magistrate/commissioner and swear out a warrant for larceny. I would wager that you most likely will not have...

Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft Forced to admit to shoplifting

Not necessarily. Unless the cop witnessed the offense he can only testify to what the LP told him. That means if the LP doesn't think he is going to court and doesn't show up, the state has no case against you as the police officer did not witness the alleged shoplifting. If the LP does show...

I would also advise against contacting the store again for any reason as it may be seen as witness intimidation and may violate the ban. If the courts drop the charges against you, contact corporate and ask the ban to be removed and get a letter in writing from them. Also, if you are really...

If you cannot afford a private attorney ask that a public defender be appointed. The testimony of the police officer and the LP are going to go a...

Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft Shoplifting got caught, police was present?

I would contact the courts/store and make sure your address is current. It is your responsibility to make sure that you keep the courts/store informed of your current address. If the address is incorrect and they send letters in the mail, you cannot use the defense that there was an incorrect...

    Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft Worried

If they suspected you and suddenly you quit, they are more inclined to involve the police to go after you and recover their losses. Simply because you are not employed doesn't mean their hands are tied. If they sit down and talk to you, be honest. You made a mistake, but you had no intention...

Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft What does this mean?

Keep this paper. It shows that you paid your civil demand and unless the payment is returned (your check or credit card) your debt to the company is completed. Simply by paying the civil penalty does not exclude you from the criminal portion of the act, if the company has elected to go that route.
