I am on government housing and have given a large deposit on this house and have been living here since December 1. The landlord called yesterday and said they want to come in for an inspection on This next Sunday. I the lease it states that I have to let them in for repairs and if someone is interested in purchasing the home. It also states that I am responsible for all maintenence and repairs. When I talked to them and asked why they needed to come in the reply is if you won't let us in, well then f--- it, just get out and hung up the phone on us. My husband called back and in the background heard him say well we will just inspect every month then. Isn't this an invasion of privacy and harassment? I went through all the proper hoops through section 8 and have done nothing wrong. I'm sorry, I don't like people going through my things, not even family. What rights do I have here???? Please help, If i loose section 8 myself, husband and four young children will be displaced.

Q: Isn't this an invasion of privacy and harassment?

A: No, it is not.

how, nobody that I have ever talked to said that a landlord wants to come in every month?
I have rented for almost 18 years and have never been asked of this.
How is it right for any landlord to say f-- you and get out on a whims notice without reason?

Talk to the people who gave you the section 8 designation and file a complaint.

A: I suspect that is in your written lease; the taxpayers want to know how you are using our money.

A: Your landlord is a very rude person and it is not right for him to talk to you that way. It's not illegal but it is still not right.

You should read your lease and talk to your housing representative.....you should be GLAD your landlord wants to keep his property and YOUR HOME in good condition...if there is NOTHING WRONG, why not let him in?

As a former landlord, I made the mistake of not checking on my property at least twice a year to ensure that it was being kept in accordance to the lease agreement. To my shock and dispair, when the tenant moved out, my place had been completely destroyed and I got stuck with a $3,500 bill to shape it up so I could sell it. If you have nothing to hide, let them in and ask them to watch their language with you...

I understand that having a property they need to make sure that everything is going ok. Taking this to the section 8 office does absolutely nothing. This entire house has been remodeled by myself and husband. (gutted and redone) We got paid nothing. I didn't say that he couldn't come in, just asked why. When my children here them threatening us and saying to get out, it affects them as well.
It's been about a month and a half now and haven't heard from them since I pulled out a video camera and said that I was going to tape the inspection. He wouldn't step foot in the house. His loss I guess.
