Is Fort Bragg competing with Fort Hood to become a more "gangsta" post?

We just attended my nephew Air Force Retirement ceremony last month. As we were driving around the base my daughter-in-law was asking questions. In a nut shell I told her that this military base was a small city. The base had every aspect that is needed in life. Sadly, the idiots will filter in no matter what. It is up to the rank and file to clean up our military cities.

Congratulations to your nephew for choosing to do what millions shirk, serving our nation.

Yes, bases, camps, forts, and posts are what our sailors, marines, airmen, and soldiers also call home.

Shirk? I don't think so. Not everyone is able to serve in the military for one reason or another. For example, when a military JAG recruiter talked to me about joining Army or Navy JAG they were very eager to have me until we discussed my medical situation. I have a condition that flat out made me ineligible for the military. And even among those capable of serving in the military it's not the right fit for a lot of them. The military is not just about numbers of bodies. It's about having people who are motivated, capable, and want to serve. Our volunteer military is a great example to the world that a nation does not need conscription to field a first class military force. Despite some of my differences with you, I do greatly respect your military service. But at the same time, I don't think those that served should denigrate those who haven't served as being shirkers.
