Hi there,

my dad was recently arrested for shoplifting. We are looking at 1 count of misdemeanor and 1 count of infraction. The deal that DA is offering is some classes or communinity service and 2 years of probation

if we accept the deal (hence the record will show that he is convicted on both counts)
how will that affect his immigration status. his green card is about to expire, so we plan on renew it after we accept the deal officially.

questions
1. what is the likelyhood of a successful green card renewal?
2. if he needs to leave the country for short term, will there be any problem when he comes back in?
3. ultimately, will the whole thing affect his hope of getting citizenship?

Shoplifting is a CIMT. Consult with an immigration attorney and make sure you understand what you're doing.
This is not legal advice. Contact an attorney if you require legal assistance.

I agree with Husty, as I don't feel this is something that anyone other than an immigration attorney could help you with.
