So filing the bankruptcy doesn't even temporarily stop the garnishment??

We are filing a chapter 7 BK on several debts including taxes - income taxes, business taxes, IRS, State, and EDD (California). I know generally you cannot get tax debts discharged. But will filing the Chapter 7 stop the wage garnishment the State has on my paycheck at least temporarily...
