I was thinking the statement, "except as to the Places of chusing Senators", in section 4 meant that the place(state legislature) could not be changed to what it is now( voting booth). I told you I was an amateur. I don't understand why they changed the senators from being chosen by their state...

Just an amateur here, but does Article 1, Section 4 of the constitution contradict Amendment 17? Thanks for your opinion, Alex
