I received two phone calls from men claiming to be officer at the police department in the town I use to live in. They are saying that my former landlord is accusing me of stealing his identity and buying things in his name and having them delivered to my former residence. The landlord is also claiming that I went through his mail and stole his property. I verified that the men that called me are actually cops and they want me to go down to the station to make a statement in regards to this case. I have given them a statement over the phone which they probably recorded and I offered to help them as much as I can. What is the process I should take to get this resolved? I have done nothing wrong and I have nothing to hide but I don't think its fair for the landlord to accuse me of something just because I just to live there, thats like saying because I used to live in Louisiana and the hurricanes hit then its my fault. Please help, I am scared and alone and I have no idea what to do.:(
