Over two years ago My two old friends and I were caught and put in jail for joyriding/criminal damage/theft for the destruction of some golf carts.
The police report plainly states (more than once) and I only rode in a golf cart while someone was driving, then drove it...NOT smashing into anything...then spent most of my time in my car because I was cold. Even the evidence report in my police report states that i should be charged with only joyriding. and that the other two people involved should be charged with criminal damage.
I no longer talk to the people I was caught with. This case was only brought up because one of them has been getting in a lot of trouble lately and they pulled the case back up. (they told me when I left jail that all the charges were scratched). Now i'm being charged with class 6 felony criminal damage. My public defender is wanting me to take the plea. He told me that if I took this case to trail I would lose and have a bigger punishment.
I don't think this is fair what so ever. Is there anything I can do????
