Absolutely.
Unless your husband was fired because of his age, gender, race, or another protected class, he can be fired for anything at all. His employer does not need to have a reason to do so.
(I'm not being flippant, but to illustrate this, he can be fired because it's Tuesday; because he is wearing a blue shirt; because his boss woke up cranky today; because it's snowing outside...see where I'm going with this?
