My jurisdiction is: West Virginia

Six years ago I went through a separation while living in Maryland. In my
separation agreement my husband was to pay off my car loan in full. I have since moved to West Virginia. My sister sent me a letter from a collection agency requesting a Writ of Garnishment other than wages. It was sent to my old bank in MD and the bank who held the loan. My question is this: I am on permanent disabilty and my check is deposited every month in my checking account in WV. Can they seize my bank account here in another state and if so what do I need to do to prevent it. The letter states I can appeal this decision but would I need to appeal in MD or WV.
Thanks for your help.

If a judgment is "perfected" in your home state of West Virginia, then the judgment in Maryland is deemed valid in WV. What appeal do you plan on making? I think that is a lost cause since you owe the money. If you're stating that this company has no right to obtain access to your disability payments, then contact your bank immediately - did you not do this?
