Would I be removed and not be able to renew GC

Hi, I been a legal resident since 2008 I have a theft felony I did 2 years of probation and finish successfully. In 2013 I was detained by immigration and released in a month with no consequences officer in charge let me out. My green card will expired in 2018 I am scared that it will be denied!? When I was detained officers suggest for me to just apply for citizenship I am also scared of doing so because I do not want to be deported I do not know what to do please help

The time to have been scared was before you became a thief.
