Permanent Residency Would bankruptcy or cillection affect geeting a green card for my husband?

I am a U.S citizen but my husband is not. He wants to apply for a green card. The Q is:
Would the collection on my credit card hurt the process?
And if I file for bankruptcy, would that hurt?

I was admitted to the hospital and the bills were really high. I either let them put me on collection, or file for bankruptcy.
