Corporate Law Workers Comp Penalty

I have small business since 02/05/2010 and I did not know that I need Workers Comp Insurance. I received notice from Workers Comp on 4/9/2010 of Non compliance from 3/31/2010 to present. So, I have applied for Insurance and received coverage starting 04/30/2010. Right now I received notice of penalty for non having insurance for period of 3/31 to 4/30/2010. I was not able to get coverage for this period because it was already end of april. I dont know what to do next. Please help. Location: Farmingdale,NY 11735
