Other Immigration Law why is it taking so long?

My father aked me if i could petition him to become a resident of the united states of america; before I got married I did the same for my husband and he gotten his greencard with temporary restritions for 2 years. why hasn't my
dad gotten his greencard? I know that it takes time, but he metioned that he was going to be deported because he couldn't prove that he crossed the mexican border legally. My question is does the mexican border officials keep track of this kind of documentation that keeping him from obtaining his greencard.

Why don't you ask your father how he crossed the border. You don't think he knows whether he crossed legally or not? If he's questioning it, my guess is that he doesn't want to admit that he may not have crossed legally and hopes he can say he did and have others prove that he didn't. Unfortunately it works the other way around. Good luck to you and dad.
