Where would court be held?

I live in Illinois and I have a ten year old boy (almost 11) whom I have physical custody of. He and I moved away five years ago, one year after the divorce. His mother now wants to challenge me in court for sole custody of him. My question is, in what county would the proceedings be held? I have been told that court would be held in the county of where the child resides but then again I have also been told court would be held in the county of where we were divorced. We live 300 mile from each other (not far enough), Please let me know if you have any information on this issue or if you know for a fact where court would be held. Thank you
