Are zoning permits for new construction or also moving into a storefront attempting to start a business?
Say someone already has a business license, a signed lease for a site. There was a tutoring business in the store prior. I go in and I want to sell T-shirts. Do I need to get some sort of zoning permit from the city to allow me to sell T-shirts now. Can they stop me from selling tshirts or something?
Also, Are the city's zoning laws public. What about if you feel the zoning officer is not being fair with respect to the zoning laws. Can I read the law for myself and make my own case about if 'm in compliance or does the city have to give me written approval no matter what you want to do? Thanks.
